These answers tell you what to look for and when to stop and call. They are not do-it-yourself instructions.
What are the warning signs I should not ignore?
Warm or discolored outlets, a burning smell, lights that dim when an appliance starts, and breakers that trip again after one reset. Any of these means stop and call.
Is it safe to reset a breaker myself?
Once is fine if nothing smells hot and nothing is wet. If it trips again, leave it off and call us. The breaker is doing its job.
What do I do about a burning smell or sparks?
Leave the building and call 911 first. Once everyone is out and safe, call us and we will inspect the panel and the circuit.
Do older homes need rewiring?
Not always. Many older homes need a panel, a few added circuits and GFCI outlets in wet rooms. We check and tell you what is actually needed.

Testing every circuit we touched is how we know the work is right. We show you the results before we pack up.
